Project Management

1 Background

Once a forest officer has decided what prescription(s) will best satisfy the management objectives for a site, proper management of those site preparation projects will be key to their success. Many forms and procedures have been developed to assist with the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and payment of site preparation contracts. This section, together with Appendix 1, Forms Management, covers the majority of issues surrounding this process. Additional information on implementation and evaluation of herbicide applications is available in the Herbicide Field Handbook, FRDA Handbook 006 [Otchere-Boateng, 1990]. For more information on contracting, see the chapter entitled "Contract Management," the Ministry of Forests contract administration policy, and the Contract Administration Manual.
