Abstract

The objective of this report is to discuss the process of developing alternatives for forest land management planning, and to make recommendations about this process. Special emphasis is placed on developing alternatives that respond to the diversity of public values as a key step in building public support. Preliminary guidelines are also offered for clarifying public values and key variables that can be used to devise more attractive land management alternatives.
