Objectives of the overall project (including 2002 works) Maintain natural drainage patterns Minimize surface erosion and potential for mass wasting Stabilize the fill slope adjacent to the stream crossing. There was a moderate risk of sedimentation to the S6 stream, and low risk to the fish resource in the N. Thompson prior to the works. The work area is not within a community watershed. Works commenced on this road system in 2002 after Weyerhaeuser Vavenby identified the Spur 9 road system as requiring road deactivation to address environmental hazards of a failing wooden culvert and landslide. Initial work was completed in Sept.-Oct. 2002. On completion of the works, the area was reviewed by Westrek Geotechnical Services. Westrek recommended additional pullback of slopes at one work site (from Sta. 0+980 to 1+032).
