The FIA funded prescription and works are to help assure stability and minimize erosion events by re working the deactivated road system. Although Bachelor Creek is not a community watershed, there are downstream fisheries values and the drainage is within an area which has a Watershed Restoration Plan in place. The geotech felt that indicators of post deactivation instability existed from prior field visits to adjacent sites under similar original prescriptions. The prescription was for a road which had been deactivated according to a prescription that was funded with FRBC funding. However, there were indications from the geotech compiling the new prescription that the general methodology of the original prescription would not perform acceptably to prevent future mass wasting or erosion issues into the headwaters of Bachelor Creek.
