Bear Aware Video and Training Kit


The (1994) self-guided package on safety in bear country includes a pre-test, an instructional video, printed material, including a bibliography and a final test. Topics covered include: planning to avoid encounters, recognizing risks, knowing what to do when bears are in an area, knowing what to do in a confrontation with a bear. Areas covered in detail include: the need for cleanliness while in the bush, how to recognize different species of bears, bear behaviour and warning signs, bear diet and feeding habits, and the use of deterrents.
