Abstract

The intent of this proposal is to write and submit two journal articles and provide extension with FORREX to promote the important findings from our study which examined the effect of paper birch density on the performance of interior Douglas-fir when the two were grown in mixture in the highly productive Interior Cedar-Hemlock and Interior Douglas-fir wet-belt forests, and to describe the modified cut-branch technique that was tested and applied in the field to measure leaf gas exchange of interior Douglas-fir in the paper birch/interior Douglas-fir density study. These articles support the FII strategic objectives, and government's New Era Agenda.
