Abstract

The goal of this project is to document the current health status of plantations of western redcedar in coastal BC, as affected by Keithia leaf blight. Through a survey of 45 - 50 plantation sites in coastal British Columbia and assessing for Keithia leaf blight severity, correlations with plantation age and site and seed source will provide information on how these factors influence survival and growth of western redcedar in plantations. In addition, information will be compiled on best practices and methods for treating and controlling Keithia leaf blight in the field. The collected information and the devised recommendations will form the basis for the second and third year of the project where silvicultural practices will be developed to control strategies for Keithia leaf blight in plantations
