Abstract

The objectives of this project were to assess an artificial oviposition substrate for western hemlock looper (WHL) as a new technology for monitoring outbreak populations, and to assess whether the proposed approach was cost effective rlative to established methods. The ovipostion substrate was a 20-40 cm polyurethane strip stapled to dgh on the north and south sides of 5 trees spaced 20 m apart and laid out in a cross at each of the 20 sites.
