Description:
Four Variable Retention Adaptive Management (VRAM) sites were re-measured and assessed in the summer and fall of 2009. The data has been appended to an existing database located at Western Forest Productís office in Campbell River. The customized database application was created in 2001 to provide a means of storing data in a standardized format from all forest habitat structure sites collected within the framework of WFPís adaptive management and monitoring program. The database also provides quality assurance capabilities by preventing duplicate records from existing within the various data sets and includes measures built to ensure consistency of common and Latin plant species names. Queries in the database also search and compare data sets for anomalies or missing information. Templates in the database have been designed to produce various summary reports and to provide a means for exporting various types of data sets for other users. Other researchers in the adaptive management and monitoring program use data extracted from this database to supplement data collected within their respective (typically species) projects.
