    Mt. Tom Adaptive Management Trial
Project lead: Earl Spielman (West Fraser Mills Ltd.)
Subject: Forest Investment Account (FIA), British Columbia
Series: Forest Investment Account (FIA) - Land Base Investment Program - Innovative
The Mt. Tom project is being implemented by researchers from the MFR Southern Interior Forest Region (Williams Lake) working in partnership with staff of West Fraser Mills Ltd. (Quesnel Divison), BC Timber Sales (BCTS), and the Quesnel Forest District.
The Mount Tom Adaptive Management study is an extension of the previously established Quesnel Highland Alternative Silvicultural Systems project. The principal objective of the adaptive management phase is to examine the effects of applying specific treatments, identified as being of interest in the Quesnel Highlands experiment, at the operational level. A range of topic areas are being studied by different researchers associated with the BC Ministry of Forests and Range (SIFR) and the University of Northern BC, in consultation with operational staff from West Fraser Mills, Ltd., who directed Forest Investment Account funding to the project.
