|The report ‘Fish Passage Culvert Inspection, Status and Non Status Roads within the Boundary TSA-, Snowy River Resources Ltd., November 30, 2002 identified this location as a partial upstream barrier to rainbow trout migration with a Parker score of 31. The FPCIP score was retrofitted using the March 2008 Protocol methodology and scored 29 which is a full barrier. The existing culverts (photo 1) had been installed prior to 1995, were not embedded and the combined width of the pipes was too small relative to the channel width. Last, the culverts could convey only 21% of anticipated|
Q100 flows. A hydrologic assessment and new crossing design were completed in July 2008 (project 5046001). In September 2008, approximately half the fill was excavated / stockpiled to reduce the quantity of fill that could reach the creek in the event of a culvert washout during 2009 spring freshet (project 5046002). Materials were purchased in early 2009 (project 5046004) and the installation of the structure occurred September 19-24, 2009. The assessment that contributed to the decision to
restore fish passage at this crossing is: ‘Fish Passage Culvert Inspection, Status and Non Status Roads within the Boundary TSA-, Snowy River Resources Ltd., November 30, 2002.
