Project lead: Marquis, David (Terminal Forest Products Ltd.)
Contributing Authors: Terminal Forest Products; Capilano College; British Columbia Timber Sales; Marquis, David
Subject: Forest Investment Account (FIA), British Columbia
Series: Forest Investment Account (FIA) - Land Base Investment Program
Description:
Phase I of the project involved completing an inventory and prescriptions of non-status roads and skid trails that were identified through public consultation as being environmentally problematic (ie. having a non-functioning drainage system that is contributing to surface soil erosion and sediment transport). Contributing to the problem is the amount of recreational use that these old roads and trails are receiving. Recreational use includes mountain biking, horseback riding, walking and motorized use by motor bikes and quads which combined is contributing to the environmental impacts.
