|Sally Road was constructed at least 10 years ago using conventional side cast methords. While the construction benching (ie/ 3/4 bench cut) varied, significant volumes of fill material were deposited on moderate to steep gradient slopes. Cutslope composition varied along the section from colluvial and till soils to massive component bedrock.|
The fillslope material was predominately composed of subangular rock 0.3km in diameter with mixed larger clasts, soil and organics.
A moderate size fillslope failure was observed during the initial field review which deposited into the unnamed stream below. The likely cause of the failure was over steepened fill placement and drainage concentration/ diversion.
Observations made during the built field review indicate the fillslope was retained by large woody derbis (stumps and decked timber at the tree line). Some of the stumps show sign of vertical displacement.
