FIA Project 2675012

Biodiversity investigations of pine stands in the Prince George Timber Supply Area - year 2

Project lead: Pope & Talbot Ltd.
Author: Manning, Cooper and Associates Ltd.
Subject: Forest Investment Account (FIA), British Columbia
Series: Forest Investment Account (FIA) - Land Base Investment Program
Description:
The objective is to gather additional baseline data on small mammals, plant communities, coarse woody debris, and stand structure of pine forests of various site types and ages for evaluating the impact of the mountain pine beetle infestation and salvage operations on habitat use, species richness, coarse woody debris volumes and habitat structure. Addtional surveys to be completed within non-pine leading stands will facilitate an understanding of the relative value of retaining standing dead pine versus non-pine leading tree species across the managed forest landscape for biological diversity conservation objectives.
