Forest Investment Account (FIA) - Land Base Investment Program
FIA Project 4800019

Project lead: Tolko Industries Ltd.
Subject: Forest Investment Account (FIA), British Columbia
Series: Forest Investment Account (FIA) - Land Base Investment Program
The 2007 Douglas Fir Aerial Survey identified IBD attack polygons within the fir-leading types in the Central Cariboo Forest District. Ground surveys identified sites where there was current attack but no treatments proposed due to the other constraining land use isses or access. The MoFR FH group determined a number of sites where MCH in combination with an aggressive trap tree program would alleviate the risk of spread and lower the potential of infection in high priority area (high visibility, research plots, etc.) This project determined the most appropriate locations of sites and the deployment of the pheromones. Location for follow-up treatment (trap tree program) is consistent with the Williams Lake Timber Supply Area Forest Health Strategy 2007 (a collaborative approach developed by MoFR and endorsed by Licensees) and the focused forest health budget.
