T106 was assessed for fish and fish habitat in the summer of 1999. Prior to the restoration completed in 2003, T106 terminated at an upstream pool that became isolated in low flow periods during both summer and winter. Isolation of this pond led to stranding of fish and resulted in significant mortality of juvenile coho (>100 in 1999). Downstream of the T106 culvert the channel was severely aggraded and flows were subsurface for most of the year, effectively isolating the channel from the Taylor River. Off-channel rearing habitat was created at the site in 2003. An opportunity to extend the T106 channel and increase fish productivity was identified.
