Approx. 13.4 ha of the Riparian Reserve Zone adjacent to Freda Creek were treated to enhance riparian habitat using variable density spacing from Dec. 2001 to Jan. 2002. Monitoring inspection surveys of the entire treatment area were completed. The objectives of the surveys were: 1) assess the effectiveness of the riparian treatments implemented to accelerate the establishment of natural old growth forest stand attributes and associated ecological functions within the riparian area, 2) evaluate how well the objectives and standards of the prescriptions were achieved in the short-term, and 3) identify whether any maintenance or additional works are required.
