Partial Harvesting Using Cable Systems Workshop
|Author(s): Kruisselbrink, Tanya||Subject: British Columbia, Biodiversity, Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Integrated resource management, Silviculture/Forest Management Systems||Series: Forest Investment Account (FIA) - Land Base Investment Program - Innovative|
This workshop developed as a result of issues identified in the Omineca-Peace Region Sustainable Forest Management Resource Management Plan 2002/2006.
A lack of knowledge and experience around alternative harvesting methods was identified in both the Robson Valley and Fort St. James Forest Districts. The use of cable harvesting equipment in partial cut systems was of particular interest due to steep terrain and increasing visual concerns in both districts.
