Nimpkish River watershed: instream fertilization, 2002

Abstract

The year 2002 was the second season of nutrient addition to enhance primary production in the Nimpkish River, Davie River, Sebalhall Creek, and Cain Creek. Drip stations added a mix or inorganic 10-34-0 and 28-0-0 (2:1). The total loading of liquid fertilizer, over a period of approximately 40 days was as follows: Cain Creek - 118 L, Davie River (bridge) - 230 L, Sebalhall Creek - 115 L (est.), Duncan Pool (Nimpkish mainstem) - 465 L, and the Powerline crossing (Nimpkish mainstem) - 694 L. The total load was 1622 L for all sites. Water samples were collected, on August 13 and September 3, 2002, and sent to PSC Analytical Services in Burnaby for analysis.
