Abstract

The following report is a preliminary attempt to summarize physical-chemical information relevant to the management of lake fisheries in the Kootenay region. It is also a part of a longer term study of the fishery potential of the lake of British Columbia. The Kootenay region (Region 4) contains 1201 lakes of significant size to be of interest to the regional staff. These lakes are distributed among 36 management units which correspond roughly to watershed areas or ecological zones within the region. Of this total, 534 lakes are named whereas 667 are unnamed.
