Scope
This policy establishes the overall framework for the administration of the Woodlot
Licence Program. It applies throughout the Ministry.
Policy
It is the policy of this Ministry, through an efficiently administered Woodlot Licence
Program:
- to increase the amount of private forest land under sustained yield management, and to
improve the productivity of that land
- to improve the productivity of small parcels of Crown forest land
- to increase the opportunities for private citizens to participate directly in
small-scale forest management operations
- to promote local employment opportunities
- to promote excellence in forest resource management
District Plan
The District Manager should:
- assess the demand for woodlot licences within the forest district on an ongoing basis
- assess the availability of suitable areas for woodlot licences within the forest
district
- maintain a district plan for the advertising of new woodlot licence opportunities
