PolicyIt is the policy of this Ministry that, where replacement of a Christmas tree permit is requested:
No ReplacementAn offer to replace a Christmas tree permit shall not be made where that licence has no provision for replacement. Replacement is not automatic, and only should be offered to permittees that have performed in a satisfactory manner. Performance ReviewA performance review of a Christmas tree permit shall include:
The permittee or a representative should accompany Forest Service staff during the field review. The results of the review should be discussed with the permittee before they are incorporated into the replacement offer. TermThe term of the replacement permit shall commence on the fifth anniversary of the existing permit and be for a term equal to the whole original term of the existing permit. Permit AreaThe permit area of the replacement Christmas tree permit will normally describe the same area as the existing Christmas tree permit. The District Manager may make minor revisions to the boundaries of Christmas tree permits at replacement to improve forest resource management. TimelineThe District Manager should, two months prior to the fourth anniversary of a Christmas tree permit, send a written reminder to the permittee to request replacement of the permit. The Forest Service must have the performance review completed so that a replacement offer can be made six months prior to the fifth anniversary of the Christmas tree permit. References
