| Volume 1 - Resource Management Chapter 8 - Tenure Administration General Procedures for Policy 8.18 - Woodlot Licence Program-Increase of Crown Land AreaEffective Date: 31-Oct-94 Resource Management Volume Table of Contents | Amendment Log District PlanThere will be many applications to increase the area of existing woodlot licences. Some applications likely will overlap. In most situations a district plan will be necessary to record applications and plan individual woodlot licence expansion. A plan will be useful in situations where a licensee notes interest in a specific area, but the woodlot licence is not scheduled for imminent replacement. Letter of CommitmentWhere it is reasonable that a specific portion of Crown land be added to an existing woodlot licence at replacement, the district manager should advise the licensee of that commitment in writing. The licensee will then be confident that resources expended in including the area in the revised management plan for the replacement woodlot licence will not be wasted. Better ManagementImproved forest resource management may include but is not limited to:
Excellent ManagementThe test for excellence in forest resource management is described in the policy. All parts of the test must be met to consider an increase in the Crown land area of a woodlot licence. ProximityAll portions of Crown land that will be added to the existing woodlot licence must lie reasonably close to that woodlot licence. It is not necessary, however, that they be abutting the existing woodlot licence. StatusAll portions of Crown land that will be added to the existing woodlot licence must be statused in the normal manner. TimelinesIdeally, areas of Crown land that may be added to an existing woodlot licence will be identified early in the replacement process so that the necessary background work will be completed to include the additional area in the replacement woodlot licence area. Management PlanThe management plan for the replacement woodlot licence will address the new woodlot licence area and include a new allowable annual cut, based on the revised Crown land area.
