Scope

This policy outlines general terms and conditions for the issuance and administration of tenures.

Policy

Commercial users of Crown range require tenures. Recreational users may require tenures at the discretion of the District Manager.

Where appropriate, licences are the preferred form of tenure for beef cattle.

Obligations of Tenure Holders

Tenure holders are given flexibility to manage their operations within the terms and conditions of the tenure, provided that:

  • Ministry standards for Crown range management are maintained, and
  • the use of the resource follows the principles of integrated resource management

Terms and Conditions

The District Manager may require that tenures include an approved tenure management plan to ensure that the range resource is protected.

Tenures will normally be issued on the basis of appurtenant lands.

Tenures are issued subject to any other terms and conditions the Regional Manager or Minister considers appropriate.

Integrated Resource Management

Administration of tenures will reflect integrated resource management priorities where considered appropriate by the Ministry planning process.
