Assess Demand

The District Manager shall maintain a record of applications for Christmas tree permits in the district.

Assess Availability

The District Manager shall identify areas suitable for Christmas tree permits during the planning processes and maintain a list of potential Christmas tree permit opportunities.

District Plan

The District Manager shall maintain a plan for advertising Christmas tree permit opportunities that considers:

  • demand for Christmas tree permits;
  • availability of suitable areas;
  • district staff and financial resources.

Competition

Competition for Christmas tree permit opportunities shall be by sealed tender.

All Christmas tree permit opportunities shall be advertised according to the Advertising, Deposits and Disposition Regulation. An advertising format is attached.

Term of Permit

A Christmas tree permit may be issued for a term not greater than ten years. The initial term of the permit is the term for which the permit will be replaced.

Management Plan

A Christmas tree permit management plan shall include:

  • general area description;
  • annual harvest determination;
  • crop improvement practices; and
  • plans for development of the permit area.
