With increased emphasis on accountability and less prescriptive CORE policy, there is greater financial responsibility for ministry expense authorities. Financial responsibility has also increased given the increased dollar amount and complexity of our business.

It is necessary to have standard training requirements for expense authorities to assist them in discharging their financial responsibilities.

Scope

This policy provides the training and certification requirements for general and seasonal expense authorities, including regular, temporary and alternate expense authorities.

Policy

Ministry employees must receive Expense Authority Training and be certified prior to receiving their expense authority.

Re-certification is required by expense authorities every three years.

Definitions

Expense authority training - Ministry of Forests and Range Expense Authority Training Package, as delivered by local office trainer.

Certification - on-line (20 minute) self-assessment of multiple choice questions, successful completion of which is 100% of representative questions.
