INTRODUCTION
At the request of the Ministry of Forests (Integrated Resources Policy Branch), in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks (Habitat Protection Branch), Westland Resource Group, a Victoria, B.C. based environmental consulting firm has conducted a comparative review of the newly created Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act and its associated Regulations, with fourteen other worldwide jurisdictions. These jurisdictions, which include National, State and Provincial authorities represent a variety of North American, European, Scandinavian and Australian administrations all have a substantial forest land base and, in one form or another, have laws, rules and/or regulations that govern forest practices.
