Appendix 12

Computer spreadsheet version of the CWAP

A computer spreadsheet is no longer available to assist with the CWAP. It previously required a computer with Microsoft Excel for Windows. The file name was CWAP10.XLS and it used to come with a sample data file, SAMPLE.XLS.

The spreadsheet used to consist of two 8.5- by 11-inch pages when printed. The first page was for input of map measurements for a watershed. The second page used to calculate and display the 15 indicators, their scores, and the watershed's hazard indices. The spreadsheet used to offer several advantages, including:

• Labour and the possibility of computational errors are reduced.
• Results are displayed and printed in a format common to all users.
• Hazard indices can be generated quickly for different planning scenarios.
