Project Number: SX 94102Q
District: Arrow Boundary Forest District
Location: Wilgress Lake

Objectives:

  • To test the effect of three levels of calcium in the plug medium on the survival and growth of planted copper-treated larch seedlings.
  • To test the effect of three levels of calcium in the plug medium on the early rooting of planted copper-treated larch seedlings.

Experimental Design:

Treatments:

  • One seedlot was grown in six different plug media. These are, normal 313B styroplugs (PSB) and 313B copper treated styroplugs (PCT), with each of these having three different calcium treatments. The Ca levels used are: 0, 2 and 4 kg/m3 of soil mix. All stock was grown at the Saanich Test Nursery of the Ministry of Forests.

Layout:

  • This is a complete factorial design with six replications (plots).
  • Each plot contains one randomly located line of each treatment.
  • Each line contains 50 seedlings.

History:

  • 1994 - Planted and measured in May
  • 1996 - Second-year measurements (height, diameter and root development)
  • 1999 - Fifth-year measurements (height and diameter)

Status: Active
