Objectives:

  • To test the short- and long-term performance on non-local species in the ESSFvc environment of the Revelstoke area.

Experimental Design:

Treatments

  • Six species are being tested: Engelmann spruce, sub-alpine fir, lodgepole pine, mountain hemlock, amabilis fir, and yellow cedar.

Layout:

  • There are two locations: an upper and lower elevation in the same drainage. At each location, there are three plots, each containing six sub-plots, one for each species. There are 64 trees of each species planted in a square 8 tree by 8 tree grid. The inner 36 trees are used for assessment. Species were randomly assigned to the sub-plot. There are no buffers or gaps between sub-plots.

History:

  • 1990 - 1992 Annual maintenance and assessment of condition
  • 1992 Replacement of dead yellow cedar
