Objectives:

  • To assess the effects of two different application rates of glyphosate on seedling growth and competing vegetation in the ICHxw.

Experimental Design:

Treatments:

  • A  Douglas fir plantation that was 8 to 9 years old was treated.
  • Three rates of glyphosate (1.072 and 1.428 kg.ai/ha and a control) were used.
  • Target species were ninebark, snowberry and saskatoon.

Layout:

  • There are nine plots (20 m by 40 m), with one treatment randomly assigned to each plot for a total of three replicates for each treatment.
  • Within each plot, 20 well spaced crop trees were selected for assessment.
  • Target species were assessed in crop tree-centred plots (r=1.95 m).

History:

  • 1983 Pre-treatment assessment and herbicide application
  • 1984 - 1989 Assessments were conducted annually except for 1985
  • 1998 Final Report

Status: Dormant
