Objectives:
-
To document spread of disease via spacing and to determine what level of
infection is safe.
-
To determine long-term impacts on larch growth of given levels of infection.
-
To help calibrate a dwarf mistletoe extension for Prognosis.
Experimental Design:
Treatments:
-
spacing at age 25 year to 12000 sph.
-
non-spaced control
Layout:
-
Five blocks were selected. One block (D) is being held in reserve.
-
Two treated blocks (A and B) had no mistletoe at the start of the trial,
three (including the reserve) did.
-
Individual assessment trees were selected at predetermined intervals on lines
through each block.
-
Treatments were randomly assigned to each tree.
History:
-
1986 - Trial established
-
1992 - assess dwarf mistletoe by thirds (Hawksworth rating), diagnose mortality,
assess ingrowth
-
2000 - reassessment and stem mapping
Status: Active
Reports and Publications:
none
Comments:
By 2000, dwarf mistletoe was in all blocks.
