New! Bark Beetle Susceptibility Ratings for the Southern Interior Forest Region

Mountain pine beetle, spruce beetle, and Douglas-fir beetle susceptibility ratings are now available for the Southern Interior Forest Region.

Spatial data is available in ESRI shapefile format on a District by District basis. Pre-themed layer files allowing for easy display of the data have been included. Spatial data users MUST download both the layer file, and the shapefile, for each Forest District they wish to view. Full metadata files and MS Word process documentation files are included with each shapefile. Tree Farm License areas will not be covered until data sharing agreements are in place.

Note: internal government GTS users must access this data from the shared work directory \\marble\work\for\rsi\rsi\local_data\forest_health\.

External users must use the links below to download susceptibility data in ESRI Shapefile format, and to download background information:

mountain pine beetle

spruce beetle

Douglas-fir beetle

Many thanks are extended to Dr. Terry Shore of the Canadian Forest Service for providing updated methodology for susceptibility calculations.
