Alex
Woods: BSc. (U of A)
MSc. (UBC) RPF
Forest Pathologist Alex’s main focus is in determining the impacts of forests diseases on the timber supply within the Prince Rupert Region and elsewhere in the Province. He has conducted numerous studies on forest diseases and their impacts on both mature unmanaged stands and juvenile managed stands. His main goal is to ensure that the timber supply forecasts used in the Prince Rupert Region and elsewhere in the province include realistic assessments of the influences of forest pests. He is also interested in determining ways to mitigate the impacts of forest diseases through enhanced management activities. He believes that one of the most important means of managing forest pests in a given ecosystem is to maintain the inherent tree species diversity of that ecosystem. |
