Stand Structure

Small gap The main objectives of this research trial were: to assess stand-level changes that result from harvesting treatments and their impact on management goals such as reforestation, maintenance of biological diversity and timber production; to provide pre- and post-treatment descriptions of stand structure and to ascertain how it changes over time; to quantify and describe the wildlife trees and coarse woody debris dynamics in each treatment unit; to understand the implication of managing for snags, wildlife trees and coarse woody debris and to interpret results of established wildlife studies.
