CRIT Publications

From time to time, CRIT will develop publications to communicate the results of efforts to address an implementation issue brought to CRIT’s attention. Each CRIT publication is endorsed by the team with the sign off by the CRIT co-chairs and may include endorsement by associated FLNR and CFPA sponsors depending on the scope of the issue. These publications may take the form of recommended regional procedures, professional advice or draft template documents. While not legally binding, these publications provide the best advise available representing the collective agreement of the practicing professionals that make up CRIT. Current CRIT publications include;

  • The Coast Forest Region Regional Procedures Government Actions Regulation document was endorsed by CRIT on May 4, 2006 and is provided as professional advice for use within the  West and South Coast Regions. The advice provided in this document is meant to supplement the guidance found in the Government Actions Regulation: Policy and Procedures document.

    This document outlines procedures related to the establishment of:
    1. Section 5 Resource Features
    2. Section 6 Lakeshore Management Zones
    3. Section 7(2) Visual Quality Objectives

  • The Karst Resource Features Government Actions Regulations Order, Professional Advice document was endorsed by CRIT on May 4, 2006 and is provided as supporting advice for Delegated Decision Makers(DDMs) when they are considering a Government Actions Regulation Order to identify karst resource features within the Coast Forest Region.

  • In 2007, as part of the Coast Forest Action Plan, the CRIT Silvicultural Working Group was tasked with drafting a strategy for the management of hardwood species. To that end, the working group has now completed development of the Hardwood Management in the Coast Forest Region  strategy document (and supporting Hardwood Management Strategy Co-chair endorsement Hardwood Management Strategy RED endorsement documents). This strategy was jointly drafted by the industry and government members of the CRIT Silviculture working group, with the assistance of MFR and licensee experts in the field of hardwood management. This document has been endorsed by CRIT and the Regional Executive Director of the Coast Forest Region. The focus is on alder management as this is the species with the broadest potential for hardwood management on the coast and represents the most current knowledge. It supports the expansion of hardwood management above its current levels on the coast. For more information about the strategy, contact Craig Wickland at (250) 751-7094 or craig.wickland@gov.bc.ca
