China: A Growing Market for B.C. Wood Products

British Columbia continues to push to increase lumber exports to the rapidly developing economy in China, which is now our second largest customer by volume.  This is a key priority over the coming years to help fulfill B.C.'s vision for a strong and diverse forest sector.

Nov. 11 – Minister Bell at the China International Exhibition on Housing Industry, the largest annual housing trade show in China with more than 100,000 in attendance.

Vacation Home Development

Nov. 10 – B.C. spruce-pine-fir is on display in the Hill and Lake Western Resort development located about an hour outside of Beijing.  The first phase of the project began three months ago, with 30 houses currently under construction, and about 300 planned in total.

Nov. 10 – Members of the B.C. forest industry trade mission visited Dujiangyan to celebrate the completion of Xiang’e primary school, the first project in the Canada-B.C. Wenchuan Earthquake Reconstruction effort.
