During the early spring of 1995, Road 1211 in Setting #1491 was rehabilitated to meet the site degradation requirements outlined in the block's Preharvest Silviculture Prescription. The entire road, minus the small area (see setting map) set aside for the stock comparison trial of Fd barefoot seedlings (1994DCK0168) and Fd plugs (1994DCK170), was then planted with Fd (1994DCK0170) and Cw (1994DCK0173). Each tree had a fertilizer "teabag" containing 16-6-8 fertilizer placed in a hole next to it.

The trial itself is comprised of 100 trees; 50 Fd barefoot seedlings and 50 Fd plugs. These were planted at 2.7m spacing (alternating between barefoot seedlings and plugs) and were subsequently tagged and measured for height and caliper diameter. Tags 1 - 50 mark the bare root seedlings. Tags 51 - 100 mark the plugs. The caliper diameter was taken 3 cm above the ground.

Once all the trees were planted and the trial set-up was complete, the entire road was grass-seeded and fertilized using manual seed spreaders. The grass seed used was Richardson's Seed's "Coastal Revegetation Mix."The fertilizer used was 18-18-18.

New measurements of the trial trees will be taken once a year for the next few years.

NOTE: Road 1211 was rehabilitated in the early spring of 1995 to meet site degradation requirements. It was then planted with Fd (1 994DCK0170) and Cw (1 994DCK0173) plugs, the trial was put into place, and the entire road was grass seeded and fertilized. The grass seed used was Richardson Seed's "Coastal Revegetation Mix". The fertilizer used was 18 18-18. Fertilizer "tea bags" ("Bio-Pak", 16-6-8 plus minors, Twelve Month Release, PLANT FOOD) were also put in beside all roadside trees and those trees on the rehabilitated road not included in the planting trial.
