Hydroseed Trials With Grass Seeds/Native Shrub Seeds |
In Co-operation with Canfor/Reid, Collins Nurseries/Westgro Sales Inc.
Purpose:
To hydroseed 5 plots, each one covering approximately 275 - 360m2, using
different formulations and concentrations of shrub & tree seeds, grass seeds
& tackifiers (with crosslink additive), in an EcoFibre wood mulch base.
Shrub & tree seeds provided by Reid, Collins Nurseries. Grass seeds provided by
Westgro Sales Inc. tackifiers and EcoFibre provided by Canfor Research &
Development.

Date:
Sowing was targeted for April 10, 1995 however, due to persistent snow pack,
trials were set up May 29, 1995.

Treatment 6
| Control: | No applications made. |
| Please Note: | Plot 6 is about one-third the size of the other test plots. |
| Seed Calculations: | (no. of seeds/m2 x no. of m2 x 5) + 50% (factors
to account for low if germination, lost seeds, etc.) (assuming an area of 275 m2) |
Native Shrub/Tree Seeds were pre-mixed. Grass Seeds & Native Shrub/Tree Seeds were
mixed in the tanlc of the hydroseeder.
During the trial set-up, 2 growing trays per treatment with soil medium were placed in
each treatment area. Trays were removed from the site June 2, 1995 and transported to
Reid, Collins Nurseries where they will be grown under controlled nursery conditions as a
comparison with the field conditions.
The trial site will be monitored for approximately a 2 year period to assess seed and
growth performance.
