The B.C. Forest Service launched its Health and Wellness Program in 1994 in the Penticton District. During the next two years other offices joined and by 1997/98 interest had spread around the province. Now there are over forty offices that have Health and Wellness programs with about 2,200 participants. Each office has at least one coordinator, some have as many as four! In total there are 63 coordinators, all volunteers.

A provincial committee, made up of coordinators from each region, communicates ideas, acts as facilitator, liaises with Executive and provides assistance and encouragement for new participants. Funding for this program is provided by both the Forest Service and Forest Service staff (through fund-raising events).
