Preparing for Climate Change

There is growing consensus in the scientific community that the global climate is warming, and this warming is likely to accelerate during the 21st century at an unprecedented rate. The anticipated temperature and precipitation changes are expected to create significant challenges for British Columbia's forest and range resources.

In May 2006, the Ministry of Forests and Range released a report outlining the challenges, opportunities and actions the ministry, and others might take to prepare for the potential impacts of climate change.

Public comments on this report were received until July 31, 2006. Recommendations within this report, and comments received on them, that fall within the scope of the Future Forest Ecosystems Initiative (FFEI) will be considered and implemented under the FFEI.
