Interior Pricing Policy Changes
The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is planning two changes to the Interior Market Pricing System (MPS) in response to the Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) epidemic. For MPB damaged timber, there will be a shift to cruised based billing using a single stumpage rate for all the merchantable timber. At the same time, there will be move to MPS A, where the stand value is determined directly from equations based on 5 years of competitive timber auctions.
