The ECommerce Appraisal Application is an electronic commerce
application between Forest Licensees and Ministry of Forests
for gathering appraisal data. Currently the forest licensees
submit tree species and grade profile information and operating
costs to the Ministry in paper form. The Ministry screens the
information for acceptance. Once accepted, this information is
entered into the Ministry’s General Appraisal System (GAS) on the
mainframe computer, and is used to calculate stumpage. The Ministry
receives approximately 10,000 appraisal data submissions to be entered
each year. This is a very labour intensive process and takes two to
three Appraisal Clerks working full time in each Region to complete.
The solution has been designed in order to streamline this process.
