Learn about GAS

ECAS is the electronic application which loads all the appraisal data submissions into the General Appraisal System (GAS). Previously, these submissions were entered manually.

Understanding GAS

The General Appraisal System (GAS) collects all Coast and Interior Appraisal Data Submissions from ECAS. Once the Region approves the Appraisal Data Submission in ECAS, the data is loaded into GAS within one hour.

Status Changes

The Appraisal Data Submission leaves ECAS with a status of Approved. Once it enters GAS, it receives a status of Incomplete.

What happens in GAS?

Once in GAS, the Region can confirm the appraisal and:

  • the status changes to Confirmed in GAS and ECAS.
  • a Stumpage Advisory Notice is automatically generated in GAS, signed by the Region, and sent to the licensee explaining the Total Stumpage Rate.
