Timber Pricing
The Timber Pricing Section is responsible for translating broad government direction into specific timber pricing policies and procedures and serves as the interface between government, the forest industry and the public on a broad range matters relating to timber pricing.
Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and update timber pricing policies.
- Provide advice on the interpretations and application of timber pricing policies to Ministry staff, licensees, industry associations and the public.
- Issue quarterly stumpage adjustments and conduct Market Pricing System (MPS) updates.
- Collect, verify and analyze Industry costs and revenues.
- Maintain and develop computer business applications (General Appraisal System (GAS), Electronic Commerce Appraisal System (ECAS), Interior Selling Price and Coast Selling Price) used to determine stumpage rates.
- Provide support for trade challenges, litigation and negotiations under the Softwood Lumber Agreement.
