About Revenue Branch
Revenue Branch's mandate is derived from the Ministry of Forests Act, Section 4(e), which states that, under the direction of the minister, the ministry is to:
assert the financial interest of the Crown in its forest and range resources in a systematic and equitable manner.
All branch activities -- pricing, scaling, invoicing, and revenue control -- serve to fulfill the ministry's revenue mandate.
- Determine revenue in a systematic and equitable manner
- Identify and claim revenue completely, accurately and promptly
- Record revenue promptly and accurately
- Treat licensees fairly and equitably
- Ensure effective control of all Crown forest revenue
- Calculate stumpage for Crown timber
- Set standards for measuring the quality and quantity of harvested timber to determine Crown charges
- Issue invoices to the forest industry for all Crown timber harvested
- Set provincial revenue risk management strategies
- Prepare and report ministry revenue
