About Revenue Branch


Our Mandate

Revenue Branch's mandate is derived from the Ministry of Forests Act, Section 4(e), which states that, under the direction of the minister, the ministry is to:

assert the financial interest of the Crown in its forest and range resources in a systematic and equitable manner.

All branch activities -- pricing, scaling, invoicing, and revenue control -- serve to fulfill the ministry's revenue mandate.


Our Objectives

  • Determine revenue in a systematic and equitable manner
  • Identify and claim revenue completely, accurately and promptly
  • Record revenue promptly and accurately
  • Treat licensees fairly and equitably

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective control of all Crown forest revenue
  • Calculate stumpage for Crown timber
  • Set standards for measuring the quality and quantity of harvested timber to determine Crown charges
  • Issue invoices to the forest industry for all Crown timber harvested
  • Set provincial revenue risk management strategies
  • Prepare and report ministry revenue
  • Business planning
