Timber Vegetation and NVAF Software for Handheld

There are only two software which VRI supports,

TIMVEG (field data entry handheld tool)

This software is commonly described as a field data entry "handheld". It is comprised of two modules. One module is loaded onto a handheld device, while the second module is installed onto a desktop or portable computer.

TIMVEG is used to enter field data collected as Tree Data only (including attributes for coarse woody debris (CWD) and old Growth/Succession). Therefore, it can only be used for "tree only" data collection for both VRI and CMI samples, i.e. all the data collection that a VRI "Timber" certified individual is certified to collect.

Submit Samples

Submit keypunched samples as e-mail attachments and send directly to Bob Krahn the VRI Data Coordinator.

Please note: Contact Bob Krahn, the VRI Data Coordinator by e-mail Bob.Krahn@gov.bc.ca or telephone (250) 953-3867 to notify of any and all samples submitted. From time to time, there have been technical problems province-wide that have affected the delivery of samples.

In this case, if you have not notified the VRI Data Coordinator, he will not be aware that you have submitted samples. This will delay VGIS validation and uploading of these samples!  Submit both the “.txt” and the appropriate TIMVEG file, either the “.vri” or “.cmi” file to the VRI Data Coordinator..
