Permanent Sample Plot
The purpose of permanent sample plots established in Natural
Stands is to provide high quality, long-term, local data on growth of
the existing forest for a variety of species and sites. Permanent sample
plots provide information on rates of growth, mortality, and changes
in stand structure from stand establishment to maturity or cutting age.
The data are used to develop yield tables and to provide the basic
information necessary for the development and calibration of growth
and yield models. The information and models are also used in the determination
of the Annual Allowable Cut and for management planning.
Permanent Sample Plot Documentation
The PSP (currently called the Growth an Yield) document is now a RISC
standard. The entire

Growth and Yield Hand and Growth Host Software
GyHost/GyHand software version 2002 is the Growth and Yield Permanent
Sample Plot's (PSP) field data collecting, editing and reporting system.
The GyHand software allows the user to collect and edit field sample
data on the handheld computer while the GyHost Software transfers, edits
and reports on the data using a personal computer.
