Introduction

The global warming phenomenon has given rise to many innovations regarding the sustainable use of forest products for diverse purposes. A whole new bio-energy industry has emerged. For this new industry, there is a need to obtain reasonably accurate information on how much wood fibre is available, and where it is located. Other biomass information users include carbon sequestration forecasters and forest resource use planners.

In 2010, the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations developed volume to biomass conversion equations to meet the demand for biomass information. The reports and information provided in this web page are evolving. Improvements will be made over time, and when that happens, updates will be provided.
