Variable Density Yield Prediction
The Variable Density Yield Prediction (VDYP 7) Model is an empirical yield prediction system that replaces VDYP6. The new model is more sensitive to changes in stand density such as basal area and trees per hectare. It is intended for use in unmanaged, natural stands of pure or mixed species composition.

During the development of VDYP 7, the issue of shifting the species composition expression
from being based on volume to being based on basal area was raised. The key participants in
the development at that time determined that the change in standard had implications on the
arrangement of the species by size of percent.

VDYP version 6.0 - not available
We no longer distribute VDYP6.xx officially. The reason is
that the VRIMS data model does not support it, in that we have lost some
of the attributes needed to run it. In addition the outdated SINDEX
software is still embedded in the model. VDYP7, on the other hand, uses
SINDEX version 1.43, while VDYP6 is linked to a much older version which
we know has errors.
VDYP version 7.0 Release
VDYP 7.0 was released on 2nd April 2007. For support documents, software, publications, etc refer to the links below or on the side columns.
There is currently an upgrade to the software, version 2. All user guides have also been updated.

As part of the release and implementation strategy for VDYP 7, an information note has been drafted.
